European IBAN providers (IBAN-as-a-service)
52 verified European providers, ranked European-origin first (41 EU/EEA-origin). Accounts and local IBANs - the answer to IBAN discrimination. Compare by EEA data residency, licence and regulator - each verified at source.
IBAN sponsors issue accounts under their EMI, PI or banking licence - jurisdiction by jurisdiction, which is why the coverage matrix below matters more than logos. Three structural choices drive fit and price: the account model (pooled virtual, named virtual or dedicated), the rails each provider actually documents (SEPA Instant and - scarcer - direct debit, where IBAN discrimination actually bites), and the licence class behind the account (bank deposits are guaranteed, EMI funds safeguarded - each profile says which). Pricing structure: the IBAN-as-a-service cost guide.

FAQ
What is an IBAN sponsor (IBAN-as-a-service)?
An IBAN sponsor provides accounts and IBANs - often virtual, sometimes with local country codes - to fintechs under its own EMI, PI or banking licence. Fintechnologica lists 52 verified IBAN sponsors (41 European-origin), with the IBAN country codes each can actually issue.
Why do local IBANs matter (IBAN discrimination)?
Employers, billers and direct-debit originators sometimes reject "foreign" IBANs even though SEPA forbids it. A provider that can issue a local DE/FR/ES IBAN removes that friction. Use the Local IBAN filter in the catalogue to see who issues which country codes - that is USP data most directories do not track.
Which countries can I get a local IBAN in?
Coverage is uneven: the UK, Lithuania, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Germany and Belgium are well served in this catalogue, while some larger EU markets (Poland, Austria, Portugal) currently have no dedicated local-IBAN issuer in the verified set - fintechs there typically run on cross-border EEA IBANs. The coverage table above shows exactly who issues which country code.
Bank vs EMI IBAN sponsor - what happens to my funds?
With a bank (credit institution) your balances are deposits, protected by a deposit guarantee scheme up to EUR 100,000. With an EMI or PI the funds are not deposits: the provider must safeguard them - keep them segregated at a credit institution (or insured) - so they are ring-fenced from creditors but not deposit-guaranteed. The licence badge on each card below tells you which regime applies.
