FAQ
What is Verification of Payee (VoP)?
The EU Instant Payments Regulation requires banks and PSPs to check that the payee's name matches the IBAN before a credit transfer - live across SEPA from October 2025. Fintechnologica lists 4 verified VoP providers (3 European-origin).
Who needs a VoP provider?
Every PSP executing SEPA credit transfers must offer VoP - most buy the matching engine and the EPC-scheme connectivity rather than build it. Fraud teams also use the same name-IBAN matching to stop authorised push-payment fraud.
