Accessibility statement

The standard we work to

Fintechnologica aims to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA, the standard referenced by EN 301 549 and by the European Accessibility Act, which has applied since 28 June 2025. This is a self-assessment by the site's author — no third-party audit has been commissioned yet, and this page says so rather than implying a certification that does not exist.

What is in place

• Keyboard operation throughout. A skip link jumps straight to the main content, focus is visible on every interactive element, and touch/click targets meet the 44 px minimum.
• Accessible dialogs. The provider profile, comparison and match-request dialogs keep focus inside while open (the page behind them is made inert), close on Escape, and return focus to the control that opened them.
• Semantic structure. One h1 per page, ordered headings, landmark regions, real lists and tables, and a declared page language.
• Text alternatives. Provider logos carry alternative text; icons that repeat adjacent text are hidden from assistive technology instead of being read twice.
• Respects your settings. Reduced-motion preferences are honoured, text reflows without horizontal scrolling, and nothing depends on colour alone — status and sovereignty flags always carry words, not just a dot.
• No interruptions. No cookie banner, no pop-ups, no autoplaying media, no time limits, no tracking overlays — the site is cookieless by design.
• Forms. Labelled fields, errors announced in text and tied to the field they belong to, and no CAPTCHA to solve.

Known limitations

Being specific about gaps is more useful than a blanket claim of conformance:

• The interactive catalogue needs JavaScript. Filtering, the assistant and side-by-side comparison are client-side. Every provider is nonetheless reachable without scripts: see the A-Z index, the category hubs and the country hubs, all server-rendered.
• The licence register renders the first 300 matches of a filter for performance. Narrowing the filters reveals the rest; there is no way to page through all of them yet.
• The filter panel is long on small screens. It is fully operable, but reaching results takes a lot of scrolling on a phone. Shortening it is on the list.
• No third-party audit or formal accessibility conformance report yet, and no testing with every assistive-technology combination — the checks behind this page are manual keyboard and structure testing by one person.
• Outbound provider websites are outside our control; their accessibility is their own.

Tell us when something is broken

If any part of this site blocks you — a keyboard trap, an unreadable control, a form you cannot complete — email [email protected] and say what you were trying to do and what happened. Accessibility bugs are treated like data errors: they get fixed, and you get an answer. You can also use the correction form. If you need information from a page you cannot use, ask and we will send it in another format.
